Mr. Rocco E. "Rocky" Yentile, of Wilmington passed away, Wednesday, March 16th, at the Wilmington Health Care Center. He was 78. Born in Arlington on October 4, 1932, he was the youngest son of the late Rocco V. and Maria "Rose" (Agostino) Yentile.
Rocky’s family moved to Wilmington in 1936 where they owned and operated Yentile Farms until it’s closing in 2005. Rocky was a member of the Wilmington High School graduating class of 1950. Following High School he honorably served as Corporal in United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War from 1953 to 1956.
Following his return home, Rocky began working for the Town of Wilmington. He worked as a foreman with the Water Dept. for more than 40 years until his retirement. He also owned and operated the Y Construction Company for many years. Rocky further served the town as a volunteer with the Wilmington Fire Dept. He will be remembered as a true dog lover and will be greatly missed by his beloved dog Bonnie.
In addition to his late parents, Rocky is preceded in death by his brothers Francis, Samuel, George and Joseph Yentile. He is survived by his sister, Terry Garey and her husband Herbert of North Reading, and brother, Vincent Yentile of Wilmington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Monday, March 21st, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave, Wilmington, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Sunday from 3 thru 7. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Rocky’s memory to the Wilmington K-9 Unit, c/o Wilmington Town Hall, 121 Glen Rd., Wilmington, MA 01887.
