Obituary

Settimeo Joseph “Seth” Tiberio, 92, of Natick, passed away on March 15, 2011. He was the beloved husband of the late Grace (Altobelli) Tiberio who passed away in 1988.


Born in Malden, the son of the late Panfilo and Elisa (Antonucci) Tiberio, Mr. Tiberio was raised on his family’s farm in Wakefield. During the depression he worked at a number of jobs to help support his family and also returned to live in Malden. A decorated member of the “Greatest Generation”, Mr. Tiberio enlisted in the United States Army on October 18, 1940. He served with the Company F 26th Infantry during WWII in Algeria, French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland. He served in the Battle of the Bulge and was wounded in action in the European Theater in 1944. Mr. Tiberio was awarded 2 Purple Hearts, 2 Bronze Stars, The Good Conduct Medal, The Distinguished Unit Badge, and various Campaign Ribbons. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Technical Sergeant on May 31, 1945. In 2008 Mr. Tiberio was awarded the French Legion of Honor – Chevalier Class by the French Government.


Upon returning from military service, he married Grace Altobelli on April 21, 1945 in Leominster. Together they started their family and then relocated to Natick in 1957 when Mr. Tiberio continued his career in the sheet metal industry at Century Manufacturing Co. in Holliston. He started at the bottom and worked his way up to setting up the manufacturing machines and reading the professional blueprints, continuing to work until September, 2010. Devoted to his family and his faith, Mr. Tiberio was a member and past commander of the Disabled American Veterans – Chapter 11 of Natick, the VFW – Post 1724 of Natick, the American Legion – Post 107 of Natick, Natick Lodge of Elks #1452, St. James Parish in Wellesley, and St. Patrick’s Parish in Natick. He participated in the Morse Institute Library Veteran Interview program and was honored with a news story about his military service in the Metro West Daily News.


Mr. Tiberio was the devoted father of Ronald Tiberio and his wife Sheila of Natick; Susan Reisman and her husband Richard of Grayson, GA; Steven Tiberio and his wife Cindy of Warrington, PA; and Michael Tiberio and his wife Sondra of Arlington, VA. He was the cherished Grandpa of Stephanie, Ronald, Jr., Elizabeth, Lillian, Audrey, Matthew, Thomas, Gregory, Robin, and Dominic; Great-Grandpa of Christopher, Kyleigh, and Trevor; and dear brother of Joseph Tiberio of Sherborn and Henry Tiberio of Beverly. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.


Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend his funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) NATICK on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 9:00 AM to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church at 10:00 AM. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 18, 2011 from 4-8 PM.
