Madeleine L. Vachon, 82, of Bedford, formerly of Manchester died March 14, 2011, five days after her beloved husband of 60 years Napoleon A. Vachon passed.
She was born in Manchester on March 18, 1928, the daughter of Emile and Alida (Baril) Pinard. She was educated in the local parochial school system having graduated from St. George High School in 1946.
She had worked many years as a bookkeeper and secretary for Roberts Express prior to retirement. She had also worked at the City of Manchester’s Tax Collector’s Office for 15 years. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and the Catholic War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary 1624.
Community service was always important to Madeleine and she had volunteered at the V.A. Medical Center, New Horizons for NH, and The CareGivers Inc.
Family members include her children, Dr. Richard Vachon, D.M.D. and wife Yvette of Bedford, Louise Pare and husband Roger of Bedford, Denise Auger and husband Paul of Manchester, Elise Vachon and David Welch of Manchester, Ann Blanchard and husband Warren of Candia; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one brother, Roger Pinard and wife Claire of Manchester; one sister, Evelyn Salvas and husband Rene of Lowell, MA; nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, March 19, 2011 in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford. Committal prayers followed in the mausoleum of Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
