Obituary

Ruth I. (Kemno) Aleksun, of Quincy, a homemaker and hospital volunteer died on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Quincy Medical Center. She was 91.

Ruthie was born in Dorchester and was a lifelong resident of Quincy. She was a graduate of Quincy High School.

She served as a volunteer for many years at Carney Hospital in Dorchester and kept active into her 80’s playing bingo and dancing. She and her husband could be found dancing on most Saturday nights. They often attended dances at the Elks Hall and Bryan Post in Quincy or the McKeon Post and Florian Hall in Dorchester.

The beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Aleksun, Ruthie was also the loving mother of Robert Aleksun and his wife Lisa, the “Nana” to Briar O’Steen , the great-grandmother of Aurora O’Steen all of FL and the sister of Jean Grady of East Orleans and the late Gerda Tyler, Doris Middleton and Pauline Dolan.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 AM in funeral home. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
