John J. O'Brien, 88, died Sunday, March 13th at the Coleman House in Northboro surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased recently by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie H. O'Brien. John was born and raised in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, the son of the late James Walter and Lillian (Robinson) O'Brien.
He moved to Hudson with his family in 1960 and resided in Hudson for 45 years before moving to the Coleman House where he resided with his wife for the past 5 years. He worked for many years as a machinist for the Carlisle Screw Company and later in shipping and receiving for Hendri's Frozen Foods in Southboro until his retirement. John enjoyed going to the movies and trips to Cape Cod with his family. He loved music and sports, and was a big Red Sox fan.
He is survived by his son, Jamie O'Brien and his fiance Jennifer Loura, both of Hudson; his daughter, Pamela O'Brien and her fiance Donald Conway, both of Clinton; three grandchildren, Jamie O'Brien, Michael O'Brien and his wife Melanie, and Ami Cyr and her friend Jemel Crawford; and six great grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial was held in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson.
