Jimmie Johnson, age 85, Douglas, GA passed away on March 12, 2011 at Shady Acres Convalescent Home following an extended illness. Mr. Johnson was retired from Brooks Auto Parts after 44 years and owned Johnson Gunworks. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army. He was a deacon for the First Assembly of God for 18 years. He was preceded in death by a son: Sidney Ray Johnson. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2001 at the First Assembly of God at 11:00 a.m. with interment following in the Douglas City Cemetery. Survivors include: wife: Waunell S. Johnson, Douglas, GA; sons: Jimmie (Latrelle) L. Johnson, Jr., Douglas, GA; Gary (Constance) L. Johnson, Fitzgerald, GA; sister: Mary Lou Smith, Hilliard, FL; brother: Clarence Johnson, Douglas, GA; 5 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 14, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
