Obituary

James Edward Early, Sr., 57, of 741 Peach Orchard Road, Axton, died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at
Danville Regional Medical Center. Born in Montgomery County, Va. on October 12, 1953, he was
the son of the late Charles Edward Early and Willie Juanita Carter Cruff. He was married to
Beverly Morris Early who survives him of the home.
Mr. Early had served his country as a member of the United States Army. He had worked in construction
as a heavy equipment operator. He had worked for the Danville Public Works Department and at the
time of his death was disabled. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. He was
an avid Dale Earnhardt fan and loved racing.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Early is survived by two sons, James Early, Jr.and fiancée, Cherie, and Jerry Allen Early, Sr.
and wife, Jennifer, both of Axton; two daughters, April Marshall and her husband, Alan, of Brosville and Michelle Graves and
her husband, Dennis, of Blacksburg; two sisters,
Connie Woolwine and Bonnie Wheeler, both of Roanoke, and one brother, Ribble Cruff. Other survivors
include eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a special lifelong friend, Ron Davis, and numerous
nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Tammy Thompson,
and one brother, Tommy Early.
Funeral services for Mr. Early will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Barker Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Jason Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family
will receive friends at Barker Funeral Home Chapel one hour prior to the service. At other times, they will
be at the residence, 741 Peach Orchard Road, Axton.
