Obituary


Estelle T. (Pisano) Thompson, 78, died Saturday morning, March 12, 2011 at home peacefully with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Winfield S. “Scott” Thompson, who passed away in 1980.
Born in East Boston on Oct. 3, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Angela (Calabria) Pisano. She was raised and educated in East Boston and was a graduate of East Boston High School, where she was class valedictorian. She went on to Salem State College, where she again was class valedictorian, and where she returned to earn her master’s degree.
A lifelong educator, Mrs. Thompson was employed by the Danvers School Department for over thirty years, beginning as a specialist and retiring as a school psychologist.
A communicant of St. Richard Parish, she was active there as a lector and Eucharistic minister. Wintering in Naples, FL, she attended St. Peter Church there, where she was also a Eucharistic minister. She was an avid golfer and an active member in the Salem State Alumni Association.
She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Mary Ann and Robert Barrows of Danvers, Frances and Harry Mundy of Wells, ME, and Kristi and Robert Macarelli of Old Orchard Beach, ME, six grandchildren, Courtney Barrows of NYC, Robert Scott Barrows of Albany, NY, Katie and Christina Barrows, both of Danvers, and Nicholas and Sarah Mundy, both of Wells, ME, and several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 9AM in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
