ALDEN WESTON,, a lifelong resident of Hingham, passed away on Tuesday, March 8th, 2011 after a brief illness. He was 85.
He leaves his wife of 62 years, Blanche L. (Doble) "Becky" Weston of Hingham; and was the devoted father of Alden "Denny" Weston, Jr. and his wife Sally of Hingham, Gerald "Gerry" Weston of Salisbury, MD, John "Jack" Weston and his wife Dorothy of Duxbury and Judith "Judy" Weston-Thompson of San Rafael, CA. Brother of the late Bradford Weston, Jr. Also survived by grandchildren Casey, Joseph, Sarah and Maggie Weston and Zara Thompson and many nieces and nephews.
He served with the Army Air Corps during World War II and had just received his commission as 2nd Lieutenant and navigator wings when the war ended. After the war, he worked for his father at Bradford Weston, Inc. before co-founding Weston and Kennedy of Cohasset, a well known producer of concrete products. In 1964 he opened the Copy & Blueprint Center in downtown Hingham; that business is still flourishing as Westongraphics nearly 50 years later in the South Shore Industrial Park, also in Hingham. From 1970 - 2011 Mr. Weston served as President of the Weston Corporation, which consists of two divisions: Westongraphics in Hingham and Weston Communications in Rockland. In addition, he was a Founder and Charter Director of Lincoln Trust Company from 1966-1990. Mr. Weston was a former member of the Hingham Yacht Club and for many years enjoyed summers in Brewster on Cape Cod and winters in St. Croix, USVI. He is remembered by his family and friends as enjoying woodworking, his John Deere tractor and, of course, his pipe.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, March 19th at 2 PM at the Second Parish Church, 685 Main St. (Rt. 228), Hingham, MA 02043.
Visiting hours and flowers omitted by request. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Organ Fund of the Second Parish Church or to the charity of choice.
The interment will be private at a later date.
