TEWKSBURY: Irena "Irene"(Lewandowski) Wittkowski, age 90, a resident of Tewksbury since 2008, formerly of Saugus, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at home.
She was the wife of Joseph Wittkowski, who passed away in 1977.
Born in Poland on February 21, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Tadeusz and Anna (kloss) Lewandowski.
Irena "Irene" was raised and educated in Poland.
In 1968, she emigrated to the United States and resided in Chelsea and Lynn until moving to Saugus in 1977.
While residing in Saugus, she attended the Blessed Sacrament Church.
Mrs. Wittkowski enjoyed playing bingo, reading her polish newspaper and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Lidia Klimkiewicz of Saugus, Halina Haley of Tewksbury and Chester Wittkowski of Cape Coral, FL; her sister, Aldona Sowa of Saugus; also three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Wittkowski was the sister of the late Chester Lewandowski.
Calling hours Sunday, March 13, from 2-4 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her Funeral Mass will be offered Monday, March 14, at 10 a.m., at the Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 Summer Street, Saugus. (There will be No Procession from the funeral home. Please meet the family at Church). Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Lynn. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
