Leo Osburn, 91 passed away peacefully in sleep Thursday, March 10, 2011 at North Jacksonville Nursing and Rehab. He was born February 11, 1920 in Milan, Ga., the son of John Wesley Osburn and Maddie Lee Powell Osburn.
He resided in Yulee, Fl. for 14 years after moving from Hazlehurst, Ga. However, prior to his retirement, he lived in Jacksonville, Fl. for many years as a builder and construction supervisor and built many homes, apartments and condominiums.
His wife, Elvie Osburn, passed away January 2010. Leo was one of 14 children and is survived by two brothers, Randall and Curtis Osburn; three sisters, Christine Schell, Jeanette Powell, and Kathlene Lewis; six children, Jay Osburn, Neldred Tarr, Jewell Prescott, Pat Ryle, Larry Osburn, and Patricia Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Osburn were blessed with 14 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at The River of Praise Worship Center in Yulee, where he was a beloved member. Interment will follow in Green Pine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Green Pine Funeral Home. Donations to Alzheimer's Association will be appreciated.
