David R. Neville, 82, of Tiverton, RI passed away on March 6, 2011 at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Florence Anita (Cory) Neville, to whom he was married for 60 years. He was born in Fall River, MA in 1928 and moved to Tiverton in 1940. He was the son of the late Harry Neville and Laura (Unsworth) Neville of Tiverton. He was also the brother of the late Warren R. Neville of Somerset, MA.
He is survived by a daughter, Gail R. Amaral and her husband Joseph, a son, Gary C. Neville and his wife, Susan and another son Scott C. Neville and his wife Karen, all of Tiverton. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was well-known in the community. After working at the Stone Bridge Inn, Acme Neville Co., P.D. Humphrey Lumber and Robinson Supply, he and his wife co-founded the Metal Works, Inc. of Tiverton in 1961. A third generation sheet metal worker, he owned and operated the business until his retirement in 1993. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with friends and traveling for a time. When his beloved wife became sick with Alzheimer’s, he lovingly cared for her at home for many years, until her death in June of 2010.
He was also well known for his faith as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He worked tirelessly to help people to examine their Bibles, helping them to see how they could benefit from living by Bible teachings. He was often seen around the community sharing these things with others. He also spent many hours volunteering his expertise in the building trades to help construct Kingdom Halls (a house of worship used by Jehovah’s Witnesses), all over New England.
He will be sadly missed by family and friends who loved him to the end. A memorial service to remember him will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 615 Fish Road, Tiverton, RI on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 1:00 P.M.
