Isaac Joseph Elliston of Teaneck, New Jersey, sadly passed away on Friday March 4, 2011 at age 67. “Peter,” as many people knew him, worked for more than twenty years as an Economic Development Banker for Empire State Development in New York City. After graduating from Clarendon College in his native beloved country Jamaica, he received a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering at McGill University Montreal, Canada. He started his career at Esso Standard Oil in Jamaica and later returned to McGill where he obtained an MBA. On his return to Jamaica, he worked for Citibank, Peat Marwick Mitchell and the Ministry of Finance. “Peter” later worked in Barbados and Guyana as a Development Banker at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), before eventually returning to the States. Throughout his career, he remained a proud and active alumnus of Clarendon College and McGill University.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan (nee Ellis); sons Jason and Julian (Marc), daughter Jodi, son-in-law Maurice, grandson Cohere and his mother Janine, sister Choicelda, brothers Elijah and Roxford and numerous other relatives and friends. Throughout his life, “Peter” was a devoted family man.
Viewing will take place at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church 118 Chadwick Road, Teaneck, NJ, on Friday, March 11, 2011 between 2 and 4PM; 7 and 9PM; and on Saturday, March 12, between 9:30 and 10:30AM. Funeral services will also be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, March 12 at 11AM. Interment will directly follow George Washington Memorial Park 234 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ.
