Obituary

Helen A. (Gordon) Fifty, 87, of Manchester, died March 9, 2011 at Home Health and Hospice House, Merrimack. She was born in Raymond, NH March 9, 1924 to Andrew and Helen (Warren) Gordon.
She was a member of St. Anthony Parish.
She spent her early years in Derry, and graduated from Pinkerton Academy. Later she went on to nursing school at the Elliot Hospital School of nursing. She loved caring for patients, and worked many years at the Elliot Hospital as a floor nurse, and house supervisor. Later she became a nursing instructor. She received a Bachelors Degree from St. Anselm College and a Masters degree from Rivier College. Helen taught at the Moore General School of Practical Nursing, the Elliot Hospital School of Nursing, and the Concord School of Nursing.
In 1942 she was the Derry Winter Carnival Queen, and was active in the local 4H. Helen was involved with many church activities including teaching Sunday school.
She loved her grandchildren and tried to help them as often as she could. Helen and her husband George enjoyed playing cards together, especially bridge and whist. They went camping in Maine each summer and enjoyed Elderhostel trips.
IN HER LIFE:Family members include her husband of over 66 years, George Fifty, of Manchester; 2 sons William Fifty, of Churchville MD, James Fifty, of Manchester; a daughter, Kathy Hebert, of Manchester; 2 sisters, Pat Jewett, of Litchfield, Eleanor Gonye, of GA; 7 grandsons; she was predeceased by a sister Shirley Garvin in 2008.



A funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, March 11, 2011 at St. Anthony Church, 172 Belmont St.

Burial took place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Donald St. Bedford.
