Funeral Service in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at 11 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 pm.
Obituary
Mr. Maraglia died Tuesday morning at the Brockton VA Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born in Stoughton and raised in Brockton, son of the late Leo and Winnifred (Corcoran) Maraglia. Mr. Maraglia received a citation from the City of Brockton naming him the “Mayor of Forest Avenue”. He had been a long time resident Brockton, attended Brockton schools and graduated from Brockton High School. He was a veteran of WW II who served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force Air Transport Command. He served in European Theatre and received a citation for an act of bravery. He returned to England after 50 years to tour his Air Base. In 1984 he retired from the Brockton Office of the US Postal Service after 30 years of employment. He had been President of Keith School PTA, Chairman of St. Margaret’s PAC 74 Cub Scouts and Leader of Knights and Columbus Explorer Scouts. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1046, Disabled American Veterans and St. Margaret’s Holy Name Society.
Survived by his wife of 57 years, Josephine J. (Williams) Maraglia, three sons, David P. and his wife Susan; Paul J.; Mark A. and his wife Linda and a daughter, Lori Maraglia all of Brockton, four grandchildren, one great granddaughter, many nieces and nephews, two brothers Arthur and William Maraglia .
