Maria Dos Anjos (Barroso) Ferreira, age 78 of Fall River passed away March 5, 2011 after a brief illness. She was the wife of Antonio Tavares Ferreira and the daughter of the late Ernesto and Maria Dos Anjos (Ferreira) Barroso. Maria was born in Rabo de Peixe, São Miguel, Açores and resided in Fall River for 41 years. She retired in 1994 as a machine operator having worked at San Toro Mfg. for 20 years and was a parishioner of Espirito Santo Church.
She was the mother of Tony Ferreira (wife Laura) of Fall River, the late Joseph Ferreira, Mary Silva (husband Manuel) of Westport, Cecilia Simas (husband Carlos) and Irene Jusseaume (husband John) of Fall River. Maria was sister of Jacinto Barroso of Kamloops, British Columbia, grandmother of Lisa Texeira, Daniel Silva and Manuel Silva Jr., Jessica Areias, Adam, Daniel and Rebecca Ferreira, Briana and Katya Simas, Chelsy and Kylie Jusseaume, Jaena and Wesley DaPonte, great grandmother of Jayden Texeira, Christopher, Ethan and Austin Silva, Cameron Areias, and Zachary Borges, and the aunt of Roger Barroso and Nelia Thorick.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St., Fall River FRIDAY at 9:15 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Espirito Santo Church, Alden St. at 10:30 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick cemetery. Calling hours THURSDAY 4-8 P.M.
