Vaughn, Lawrence “Larry” Michael 62 of Louisville returned to his heavenly father away Monday March 7, 2011.
He waws born on March 10, 1948 in Nashville, Tennessee, the only son of Eva Nell and John B. Vaughn both deceased.
Larry joined the U.S. Marine Corp in July 18th, 1966 and served in Viet Nam with the 3rd Battalion 26th Marines where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Upon his return, he attended and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Larry was employed by General Electric Corp for 10 years and was later employed by the U.S. Postal Service where he retired after 25 years of service. Larry served as President of the Kentucky Striper Fishing Club during 2003 and was a Charter member of the Kentuckiana Detachment 729 Marine Corps League. He was blessed with a terrific sense of humor and a smile that would light up a room. Today, Larry joins the ranks of Heaven’s Detachment. “Semper Fi, Marine!”
Larry was a devoted Husband, Father, Papaw, and friend to many.
Larry is survived by his wife of 27 years Rose Colvin Vaughn of Louisville, KY. His children Bobby Mefford (Kristin), Vanessa Bundy (Mike), and Scott Grover of Winchester, TN. His sister Lynn Garrett of Covington, Georgia; Grandchildren Austin, Maya, Brennon, Isabel, Taylor , and Ashlyn. He is also survived a niece Christy and a nephew Brian.
His Funeral Service will be 11 am Wednesday March 9, 2011 at Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown 9318 Taylorsville Rd.
Burial will be in Kentucky Veteran Cemetery Central (Radcliff, KY) with honors and full Military Detail. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-8 pm
