AUBURN
John A. “Arnie” Engquist, 88, of Auburn passed away Monday, March 7 in Lanessa Extended Care Center.
His wife Dawn M. (Strand) Engquist died in 1996. He leaves a daughter, Kristine E. LaFleur and her husband Louis of North Grosvenordale, CT; two grand-daughters, Elizabeth Burke and Amy LaFleur and a great grand-daughter, Cassidy. His son, Jeffrey J. Engquist predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of John A. and Tyra (Walstrom) Engquist and graduated from Millbury High School and attended Duke University. John served as a Petty Officer in the Navy during WWII.
John was a machinist for many years, retiring from the David Clark Company. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, South Works VFW and SAC Park. John’s passion was golf, he was a member of Clearview and Pine Ridge Country Clubs. He loved dancing and bowling.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Lanessa Extended Care Center, Brookhaven Hospice and Beaumont University for all their kindness and compassion during John’s illness.
A private graveside service will be held in All Faith Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, 92 Bryn Mawr Ave., Auburn, 01501. Arrangements in the care of Lindquist Lundin Funeral Home, 36 Butler St. Worcester.
