Obituary

BEVERLY: Barbara A. (McGrath) Nuccio, 83, died Sunday, March 6, 2011 surrounded by her family in the Beverly Hospital following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Frank A. Nuccio who died in 1991.
Born in Beverly on December 3, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Michael P. and Nora F. (Redmond) McGrath. She was a lifelong resident of Beverly and a graduate of St. Mary’s School.
Barbara was employed as a secretary at the Metropolitan Credit Union and as a sales clerk at the former Almy’s Department Store in Beverly for several years. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church. She loved spending time in the summers at Lynch Park and especially enjoyed her many trips to Canada to visit with her family. An avid bingo player, she enjoyed playing at the Beverly Senior Center and Turtle Creek.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy A. and Scott Knowles of Danvers; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph M. and Sharon (Burbine) Nuccio of Lynn, Paul F. and Anne (Cassara) Nuccio of Billerica and Michael D. and Debi (Perry) Nuccio of Sammamish, WA; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Knowles and her fiancé, John Hottel of Danvers, Matthew Knowles of Danvers, Chrissy Knowles of Beverly, Lori and her husband, Richard Allinder of Beverly, Karen Nuccio of Nashville, TN, Tim and Nick Nuccio both of Billerica and Jacob Breeden of Sammamish, WA; one great-granddaughter, Maggie Allinder of Beverly; a sister, Mary and her husband, Bart Moar of Miramichi, New Brunswick, Canada; a brother, Paul McGrath of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; two brothers-in-law, Pete and his wife, Rose Nuccio of Beverly and Vincent and his wife, Mary Nuccio of Needham and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother, Harold and his wife, Helen McGrath, a sister-in-law, Doris McGrath and a brother-in-law, Joseph and his wife, Mary Nuccio.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday in the St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 5 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.
