Michael J. O'Reilly, 82, of New Bedford died Sunday March 6, 2011 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility after a long illness. He was the husband of Elizabeth R. (Stuart) O'Reilly.
Born in Argentia, Newfoundland, the son of the late Phillip and Ellen (Smith) O'Reilly, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Mr. O'Reilly was formerly employed as a fisherman out of the Port of New Bedford until his retirement.
He was a member of the New Bedford Fisherman's Union and the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Ellen M. LaSalle and her husband Christian of New Bedford, Sean M. O'Reilly of New Bedford, and Elizabeth Ann Lopes and her husband Joseph of Plymouth; two grandchildren, Noah Vincent Lopes and Ashlyn Reilly Lopes; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
