New Bedford – Manuel Vieira, Jr., 62, of New Bedford died at home January 12, 2004 after a long illness. He was the husband of Jane O. (Laborde) Vieira.
He was born in New Bedford, son of the late Manuel Vieira and Georgiana (Costa) Rodrigues and was a lifelong resident of the city. He worked for many years as a scalloper on various local fishing vessels.
Mr. Vieira enjoyed traveling and riding his Harley-Davidson.
In addition to his widow he is survived by 2 daughters: Zina-Marie Vieira and Jennifer L. Vieira Beaulieu both of New Bedford; a son: Richard R. Vieira of Buffalo, NY; a brother: Charles Rodrigues of Mattapoisett; 3 sisters: Doris Gomes of Acushnet, Jeannette Audette of Dartmouth and Barbara Conley of Commerce, CO; a granddaughter: Ashley Nicole Vieira of Buffalo, NY; and several nieces & nephews.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 15, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at the KIRBY FUNERAL HOME, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford.
Interment in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, New Bedford.
