Obituary

Mr. Robert E. Williamson Sr., age 79, of Tewksbury passed away March 3rd, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Corbo) and together they shared 56 years of marriage. Born in Somerville on December 5, 1931, he was the son of the late James and Gertrude (Earle) Williamson.

Mr. Williamson was raised and educated in Somerville. He has been a Tewksbury resident for the past fifty years. Mr. Williamson worked for the Polaroid Corp. as a machinist for more than thirty years prior to his retirement.

Family was the main focus of Mr. Williamson’s life and he cherished family times together, especially around the Christmas Season. For many years he enjoyed volunteering and coaching his children when they were younger and involved in youth baseball and Pop Warner football. He enjoyed traveling with his family and friends, fishing, gardening and watching old western movies. He was a devoted husband and family man with a great sense of humor and was well liked by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his beloved wife Barbara, he is survived by his children, Barbara Rodwell of Tewksbury, Robert Williamson Jr. and Carol O’Neill of Salem, NH, Paul Williamson and wife Charlene of Derry, NH, Donald Williamson and wife Sharon Schumaci of Atkinson, NH, Diane Carroll and husband Dennis of Belmont, NH, Joan Marden and husband Edward of Hudson, NH, Jack Williamson and wife Gail of Salem, NH, Debra Gormley and husband Michael of Burlington, Mary Williamson-Flight of Hudson, NH. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is the brother of James Williamson of Stoughton, John Williamson of Somerville, and the late Doris Phelan.

Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Tuesday, March 8th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Dorothy Church, Main St., Wilmington, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Monday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, Tewksbury. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., Boston Office, 330 Congress St. 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210.
