Obituary

Flaherty, Rita D. (Flanagan) of Quincy, passed away March 1, 2011.

Beloved wife of the late Charles F. Flaherty. Loving mother of Richard E. Flaherty, of the MA State Boxing Commission & retired Lt. of Metro and State Police and his wife Gail of CT, Charles F. “Bud” Flaherty, Jr., a retired Teacher for the City of Boston, and his wife Patricia of N. Quincy and Patricia K. Burrows-Flood and her husband Frank of CO & SC. Sister of the late Eileen Leone, Kathleen Pettee, Denis Flanagan, and Thomas Flanagan. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Rita was an active and independent lady. She loved her family and took pride in all of their accomplishments. An Electronic Technician, she retired in 1982 from Grass Instruments of Braintree after 11 years of employment. Mrs. Flaherty was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club of N. Quincy, 1000 Southern Artery Senior Center, Quincy AARP, Castle Island Association, Beechwood by the Bay Community Center and the Quincy Historical Society. She was most proud of her affiliation with the Quincy Senior Olympics. Rita was a twenty year participant and won many medals in several events over that span.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM.

Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
