TEWKSBURY: Frances P. (McPartlan) Amirto, age 82, a resident of North Reading since 2004 and a former longtime resident of Tewksbury, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2011at the Meadowview Nursing Home in North Reading, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
She was the beloved wife of Nicholas F. Amirto, who passed away on October 30, 1995.
Born in Ayer on November 26, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Francis P. McPartlan and the late Edith T. (McDonough) McPartlan.
Frances was raised in Groton and attended Groton schools.
Mrs. Amirto resided in Malden until moving to Tewksbury in 1965. While living in Tewksbury, she was a communicant of St. Dorothy's Parish in Wilmington.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an assembler by Analog Devices Company of Wilmington.
Frances enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and friends and caring for her pets, especially her dog "Koko".
She is survived by two sons, Michael J. Amirto of Ashburnham, formerly of Windham, NH and James A. Amirto and his girlfriend Norma Nelson of Billerica; one sister, Ann Bowes of Ayer; also many nieces and nephews including Meredith Bowes of Groton.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, immediately followed by a prayer service to be held in the funeral home. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
