Obituary

Johnnie Cooper White, age 79, of 2842 Blairmont Drive, Danville, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 after a decline in health for the past year.

Born February 19, 1932 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Bernard White and Pansy Lewis White. Mr. White was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War, and worked as a Supervisor for APAC for 32 years. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Oliver White of the residence; three daughters: Wanda Gayle Quinn and her husband Fred of Reidsville, Lisa Thaxton and her husband Daryl of South Boston, Vickie Brown and her husband Mike of Danville; one son: Kevin White and his wife Renee of South Boston; one sister: Rachel Clark of South Boston; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his special companion Ethel. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Velma Hughes, and by one brother, Harold White, and by his stepson Johnny Pyron.

Graveside funeral services officiated by the Rev. Jack Robertson will be held on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 2 p.m. in Highland Burial Park.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Swicegood Funeral Home from 7 until 8:30 p.m. At other times, they will be at the residence on Blairmont Drive.
