Robert P. “Bobby” O’Dwyer, 64, of Brockton, formerly of Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, passed away at the Brockton VA Medical Center, February 23, 2011. Born in New York City, he attended St. Francis School in Harbour Grace NL, and Monroe-Woodbury High School in NY. Bobby served two tours of duty as a decorated United States Marine in Vietnam from 1965 to 1967. He was a proud member of VFW Post #2346 Saugus, American Legion, Royal Canadian Legion Post #23, Knights of Columbus Dalton Council, and the DAV. He loved music and advocating for veterans and friends. Bobby is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Rob and Kay O’Dwyer of Winthrop, and his beloved granddaughter Gemma. The family would like to thank the Emmanuel College community for their support, and the wonderful VA Staff, especially the caregivers on the hospice and palliative care ward in Brockton for their love and compassion.
Services will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, March 10, 2011 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be directed to the Richard J. Moriarty Charitable Fund, c/o Moriarty & Primack, P.C., One Monarch Place, Springfield, MA, 01144.
