Obituary

George “Bud” E. Travis Jr., 93, of Windham , NH , passed away on Monday, February 28th at his granddaughter’s home in Hooksett , NH .



George was born in Lawrence , MA and was raised and educated in the Medford , MA area. He was a member of the Carpenter’s Local 111 for 70 years and also worked for many years as a firefighter with the Windham Fire Department. George owned and operated Bud’s Corner at Corbett’s Pond for many years. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating. His greatest joy was spending time with his beloved family and he will be dearly missed by all that knew him.



George is predeceased by his wife, Mildred D. (Farr) Travis. He leaves his children, Carol A. Yennaco and her husband Douglas of Windham, NH, Gail Wilen and her husband Bruce of Chichester, NH, Donald Travis of Windham and William “Bill” and his wife Elaine of Windham, NH. He also leaves a brother, Robert Travis and his wife Emma of Chester, NH and a sister Priscilla Miller of Gilford , NH , many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.



Friends are invited to call on Thursday, March 3rd from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Goundrey and Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main St. , Salem , NH . A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 am at the Granite State Baptist Church , Salem . Burial will follow at Cemetery on the Plains in Windham . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manchester VNA Hospice, 33 South Commercical St. , Unit 401, Manchester , NH 03101 .
