Ora Belle Jernigan Yawn, 78, of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Alapaha, died Friday, February 25, 2001, in a nursing home facility in Jacksonville, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Saint Luke’s Baptist Church in Alapaha with burial to follow in Saint Luke’s Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Saint Luke’s Baptist Church in Alapaha, prior to the service.
Mrs. Yawn was born on April 12, 1932 in Alapaha and was the daughter of Ocie and Annie Belle Jernigan, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Dallas Everette Yawn; her daughter, Freida; and a son-in-law, Eddie Scogin.
Mrs. Yawn is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Neida and Clyde O’Neal of Jacksonville, Florida, Kathryn Scogin of Douglasville, and Deborah and Ernest Hermann of Callahan, Florida; one son, Ted Yawn of Jacksonville, Florida; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
