Obituary

WALTON, Wilfred G. "Ike" A resident of Needham for 50 years, died in San Francisco, CA, Feb. 17, age 94. Retired Telephone Company Engineer and retired US Army Lt. Colonel. Graduate Newton High School Class of 1935 and the University of New Hampshire majoring in Economics and was a member of the Army ROTC. He served as Company Commander on active duty in WWII, first in Iran with Persian Gulf Command and then in The Pacific. Post war he worked as an Engineer for the N.E. Telephone Company retiring in 1979. He retired from the Army Reserve at age 60.

Member of St. Joseph's Church in Needham, where he sang in the choir and served as a lector. Member of the Needham Knights of Columbus #1611, volunteered at the Deaconess Glover Hospital.

Ike spent the last 5 years of his life in San Francisco, happy to be with his family. He looked forward to rejoining his wife Martha A. Walton and son Richard K. Walton who predeceased him in death.

Survived by his son David L. Walton, his daughter in law Machiko Nakatani, and Brenda Walton, 6 grandchildren, Brian, Maya, Timothy, Kelly, Erin and Christopher.

Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave. (Exit 19B off Rt. 128) NEEDHAM, Monday at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, Needham at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Sunday 4-7 p.m. Interment Mass.
