Florence G. Knudsen, 96, of Derry, NH, died Friday February 25, 2011 in Aurora Senior Living of Derry. She was born in Newark, NJ on September 5, 1914, a daughter of the late George and Georgena (Garner) VanCott. Mrs. Knudsen had been a resident of Derry since 2002, formerly living in Hampstead, NH since 1974. She previously resided in Bloomfield, NJ and Verona, NJ. She taught classes in her home working with porcelain, making reproduction antique dolls, figurines, wedgewood, jewelry and Christmas ornaments. Mrs. Knudsen was a member of the Rockingham County Craftsman Organization, and the Hampstead Congregational Church in Hampstead. She enjoyed spending summers on Martha's Vineyard with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Sally A. Sands and her husband Melvin E. of Atkinson, NH; one granddaughter, Diana L. Sands of Keller, TX; and one grandson, David M. Sands of Tustin, CA. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond G. Knudsen in 1997, her sister Mildred Bell-Lucas, and her brother, Harold VanCott.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hampstead Congregational Church, PO Box 158, Hampstead, NH 03841. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements.
