Obituary

Mr. Frank Cataldo, a longtime Wilmington resident passed away peacefully on February 24th at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veteran Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 85 years of age. Mr. Cataldo was the beloved husband of Frances (Della Piana) and together they shared 58 years of marriage. Born in Everett, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Nargiso) Cataldo.

Mr. Cataldo was raised and educated in Everett. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII and an Air Force Veteran of both the Korean and the Vietnam Wars. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Sergeant following a career of more than twenty years. He first enlisted in the United States Navy during WWII and following his honorable discharge in 1946 he reenlisted in the Air Force where he faithfully and honorably served until his retirement from active duty in 1966. Upon his return home to civilian life, He began working for the Gillette Corp. where he worked as a refrigeration and air conditioning technician for many years.

Mr. Cataldo was mostly devoted to his loving family and in his leisure time he enjoyed working around his home and doing yard work. He was also an avid golfer and played for several years in the VA golf league in Bedford. Together with his beloved wife Frances, they enjoyed traveling and they took many memorable trips with family and friends throughout the years. Some of their favorite destinations being Hawaii and Alaska.

In addition to his late parents, Mr. Cataldo is predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Lammattina, and brothers, Ernest, Salvi and George Cataldo. He is survived by his devoted and loving daughter, Debra Moretti and her husband Butch of Wilmington. He is also survived by his cherished granddaughters Christina and Kimberly Moretti both of Wilmington. He is further survived by his sisters, Olympia "Lee" Sampson and Rosemarie Sola both of Saugus and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Tuesday, March 1st, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Dorothy Church, Main St., Wilmington, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Monday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
