Mrs. Hazel C. Johns, age 80, of Douglas, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Johns was born on March 14, 1930 to the late Ernest and Janie Spivey Chaney and she was the widow of Albert Johns. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pinegrove Baptist Church. Mrs. Johns was preceded in death by a daughter: Joanne Hilliard and granddaughter: Charlie Bryan; 5 brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be held at Sims Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with interment following in the Chatterton Church Cemetery. Survivors include: sons: Charles (Connie) Johns, Milwood, GA, David Johns, Douglas, GA, Melvin (Amy) Johns, Axson, GA, Earnest (Beverly) Johns, Douglas, GA; daughters: Linda (Wendell) Grantham, Douglas, GA, Frances (Donald) Phinazee, Douglas, GA; 17 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 25, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
