Robert J. Kennedy, Sr., a lifelong resident of Methuen, MA., passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the Holy Family Hospital.
Born in Methuen on July 29, 1940, Mr. Kennedy was a graduate of Tenney High School Class of 1958. He went on to graduate from the Culinary Institute of America, Fitchburg State College, and Boston State College Graduate School of Education. Mr. Kennedy was a retired Culinary Arts Instructor at Greater Lawrence Regional Technical High School. He had taught there for 36 years prior to his retirement.
Mr. Kennedy is survived by his wife of 48 years: Mary Jane (Hughes) Kennedy, three children: Attorney Christopher H. Kennedy and his wife Arleene, Mary Elizabeth Kennedy-Maloney and her husband Joseph, and Robert J. Kennedy, Jr. and his wife Barbara. He also leaves six grandchildren: Robert J. Kennedy, III, Caitlin E. Kennedy, Brendan M. Kennedy, Liam K. Pellerin, Ryan C. Kennedy, and Megan I.C. Kennedy.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, also in Lawrence. At the request of the family, there are no calling hours.
