Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Steven R. Abbott, 51, of Marchant Street, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at his residence.
Born in Gloucester on May 15, 1959, he was the son of the late Floyd S. Abbott, Jr. and Eleanor V. (Pakkala) Abbott MacLean. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1977.
Steve loved to cook and worked as a chef for many years at the Rudder on Rocky Neck and several other local restaurants. Most recently he was employed by the Gloucester Daily Times.
He was involved in drama in high school and later was active with the Theater in the Pines. Steve enjoyed drawing and was a talented cartoonist. He will be greatly missed by all he left behind.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Sebastian “Buddy” Lovasco of Rockport; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Thomas and Marie Abbott of Duluth, GA and Stanley and Keturah MacLean of Gloucester and Pamela Abbott of Beverly; nieces, Karen Abbott of Atlanta, GA, Tracie Abbott of Beverly, Katelyn Lovasco of Rockport, Elaina, Keyra and Alexis MacLean of Gloucester, nephews, Thomas, husband of Lisa Abbott of Gloucester, Michael Abbott, fiance of Karolina McLean both of Atlanta, GA, Michael Lovasco of Beverly; two aunts and uncles, Helen and Robert Johnson of Gloucester, Mary and Gardner Cahoon of Chehalis, WA; his dear friends, Marjorie Todd and her family, including his godson, Edward Todd; and many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by his brother, Timothy J. Abbott and stepfather, Stanley A. MacLean.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at a later date to be announced in the spring. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 260 Main St., Gloucester, MA 01930.
