SALEM - Elizabeth L. “Betty” (Lane) Veneski, 84, of Salem, wife of the late Edward J. Veneski, died Tuesday morning, February 22, 2011 at the Kindred Boston North Shore in Peabody, following a long illness.
Born and raised in Rockport, she was the daughter of the late Dana C. and Ruth F. (Daggett) Lane. She attended Rockport schools and resided there until moving to Salem in 1949 following her marriage.
Betty is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Martin Shimansky of Tallahassee, FL, 3 grandsons, Michael P. Ortega of Morrisville, NC, Phillip N. and his wife Erica Ortega of Kapolei, HI, Robert E. Ortega of Tallahassee. FL, a sister, Elinor Enos of Gloucester, 2 brothers, Dana C. Lane Jr and his wife Linda of Hamilton, Chester A. Lane of Gloucester and several nieces and nephews including Pamela R. Ponder of Malden, Michael A. Enos and wife Theresa of Walterboro, SC, Scott D. Enos and wife Jane and Lola R. Lovett and husband Gary all of Gloucester. She was predeceased by her son, Edward J. Veneski, Jr., USN, a sister, Cora B. Greeke and a brother, Robert E. Lane.
A grave side service will be held Friday, February 25, 2011 at 1 pm at St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends may gather at 12:30 pm at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, for the procession to the cemetery.
