Eula Mae Evans, 92, of the Lands Crossing community, Irwin County, Georgia, died Thursday, January 8, 2004 at Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 3 P.M. Saturday, January 10, 2004, at Arp Baptist Church, Irwin County with Rev. J.W. Taylor and Rev. John Gibbs, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:00 until 9:00, Friday evening at Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Evans was born June 15, 1911, in Cobb County, Georgia, to the late George W. and Josie Webb Phillips and was also preceded in death by her husband, James Everette “Red” Evans, one son, Juney Evans, one great granddaughter, two brothers and three sisters. She lived in the community most of her life and also lived in Norfolk, VA during World War II while Mr. Evans worked in the Navy shipyard. Mrs. Evans was a homemaker and a farm wife. She was a charter and founding member of Arp Baptist Church.
Mrs. Evans is survived by one daughter: Annette E. Calhoun, Lands Crossing Community, Irwin County; one son: Hubert Alvin Evans, Perry, GA; seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
