WASHINGTON…Henry W. Nieukirk, 54, of Washington, passed away suddenly at 1:57 a.m., Monday, February 21, 2011 in the emergency room at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Henry was born on April 19, 1956 in Peoria to Rolla and Frances Simmons Nieukirk. He married Patricia Mahony in Washington on June 24, 1978. Pat survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Courtney (Nicholas) Witmer and Mallory Nieukirk, both of Washington; one brother, Ronald (Jane) Nieukirk of Washington and five sisters, Judy (Delmer) Myers of Groveland, Tana Lee Schoon and Mary Nieukirk, both of Washington, Deborah (Duane) Klehm of Lacon and Karen (Benjamin) Jackson of Metamora and many loving nieces and nephews.
Henry had worked for LS Building Products in East Peoria for 16 years where he was a driver. Prior to that he had worked for Kimpling’s Ace Hardware in Washington and Caterpillar at Mossville.
He attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Washington with his family.
Henry was an amazing Dad and loved spending time with his family, which was the most important part of his life. During football season Henry was an avid Bear’s fan. He was a graduate of Washington Community High School in the class of 1975.
A mass for Henry will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 25, 2011 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph Donton officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:15 to 8 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 4 p.m. prior to visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either St. Patrick’s School or the Cancer Society.
