Rivers Meeks Owen, age 91, formerly of Withers Road, died Monday, February 21, 2011 in Roman Eagle Memorial Home.
Born February 19, 1920 in Rockingham County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Zeff Meeks and Emma Lou Price Meeks. She was a homemaker, living most of her life on Withers Road, and was married to James Raymond Owen, who predeceased her in 1986. Mrs. Owen was a member of Stokesland United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons: Ray Owen and his wife Jane, Randy Owen and his wife Donna, all of Danville; two daughters: Mary Ann Ludwick and her husband Tommy of Clayton, NC, Robin Owen and Forest Paxton of Bradenton, Florida; one brother: Irvin Meeks of Eden, NC; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Rich Hartman of Clayton, NC will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the funeral home from 7 until 8:30 p.m.
