Obituary

Mr. John Agrella, of Taunton, died Monday, February 21, at his residence following a brief illness. He was the husband of Mary (Soares) Agrella. He was born 85 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Joseph Agrella Nasciemento and Maria (Neves) Agrella Nasciemento. He was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a finisher at Reed and Barton Silversmiths for 35 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served as an Antiaircraft Artillery Gunner in Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a member of the Reed and Barton Quarter Century Club. Mr. Agrella enjoyed gardening, was an avid Boston Bruins and New England Patriots fan, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church.
In addition to his wife, he leaves: 2 sons: Philip J. Agrella of Taunton, James R. Agrella and his companion, Darlene Perry of Taunton; 1 daughter: Cheryl Fournier and her husband, Joseph of Taunton; 2 brothers: Anthony Nascimento of Berkley, Charles Agrella of Acushnet; 2 sisters: Dolores Gay of Taunton, Laurinda Figueiredo of Taunton; 2 granddaughters: Danielle Agrella of Rochester, N.H., Nicole Agrella of Raynham, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Joseph Nascimento and the late Mary Silva.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, February 25 at 9:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Church at 10:30 A.M. Interment with Military Honors will be in the V.A. National Cemetery, Bourne. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
