Leona J. (Stephens) Farmer, 69, died at home Friday February 18, after a
lengthly illness with her loving family at her bedside.
Leona leaves her husband of fifty years, John H.Farmer Sr.; they were
married March 4, 1960 in North Augusta, Ga. She also leaves her daughter
and son-in-law Cynthia and Gerald Raymond of Niagara Falls, N.Y., son and
daughter-in-law John H. Jr. and Christine Farmer of North Brookfield, John
C. and Sandra Farmer of Fitchburg, Stephen and Mary Farmer of
Chesterfield, IL. Anthony Farmer of Hudson, Ma. and Scott Foster of
Georgia.
Leona also leaves six sisters, Melissa Newman and husband Calton of
Blythe, GA., Lois Upchurch of Wrens, GA, Anne Taylor of Hephzibeth, GA,
Rickie Prescott of Moore Haven, Florida, Jane Underwood and husband
Robert of Kingsman,Indiana and Bonnie Stephens of Worcester, Ma.
Fifteen grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Two brothers Robert
and Dennis Stephens and one sister Jeannette Adams predeceased her.
Leona was born March 4, 1941, the daughter of Tampa and Lizzie (Daley)
Stephens in Augusta, GA., She and John moved to Fitchburg some sixteen
years ago after John's retirement from his military career.
A funeral service for Leona will be held on Wednesday February 23, at 12
noon in the Bosk Funeral home 85 Blossom St. Rev. Howard Shadd will
officiate. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery 111
Glenallen St. Winchendon, Ma.. Calling hours will be from 10 A.M. to 12
noon on Wednesday February 23 in the funeral home.
