Lois Wactor Purser, 85, of Tifton died Friday, February 18, 2011, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2011, in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Stephen Webb will officiate.
Mrs. Purser was born on July 17, 1925 in Elloree, South Carolina and was the daughter of Thomas Vernon Wactor and Eva Shuler Wactor, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Griggs Purser. She was a retired school teacher and a member of Tifton’s First United Methodist Church, where she was a member and teacher of the Loyalty Sunday school class and was a Circle leader. She graduated from Winthrop College with a B.A. degree. She enjoyed gardening and reading, and she spent her life caring for her family.
Mrs. Purser is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and John Ewing of Tifton and Eva Lynn and John Holland of Ashburn; one sister, Dadie Parker of Columbia, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Melissa Ewing of Atlanta and Brooke and Jason Gray of Atlanta; two great-grandchildren, Peyton Gray and Alexis Gray; and special friends and care-givers, Lynn Osborne, Teresa Stoner and Kim Yada Johnson, of the Dillard House.
