Mr. Guido Petroni, age 99, of Medford passed away peacefully on February 18th, at the Courtyard Nursing Center following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Rose (Froio) Petroni. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Filippo and Felicita (Colabatista) Petroni.
Mr. Petroni was a Medford resident for more than sixty years. He was a retired cement finisher and worked for thirty-two years at the Charlestown Navy Yard prior to his retirement in 1972. In his leisure time he enjoyed working around his home and tending to his garden, cooking and making homemade wine. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his late wife and parents, Mr. Petroni is predeceased by his son, the late Phillip Petroni and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Angela Mattos and her husband Bob of Medford, and son, James Petroni and his wife Joann of Winchester. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Bobby Mattos, Kathy Mattos Franklin, Gina Mahoney and her husband Tom, Maria Ianuzzi and her husband David, Deanna Mahoney and her husband Ed. He is also survived by his loving great grandchildren, Sarah Rose Mattos, Delano and Maceo Franklin, Anabelle and Ryan Mahoney, Thomas and John Ianuzzi, Elizabeth and Thomas Mahoney.
Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, February 21st, at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., MEDFORD, at 9 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Sunday from 3 thru 7.
