Obituary

Leondina D. (DeSimone) Zaccheo, of Stoneham, formerly of Medford, died suddenly at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. She was 90.

Born and raised in Mirabella, Avellino, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Bernadino and the late Angelina (DiPietro) DeSimone. As a young woman she came to the United States and lived in Boston’s North End. She worked in the clothing industry as a seamstress until her marriage. She and her husband moved to Medford where they raised their daughter. Leondina was devoted to her family. She was a devout woman who attended mass regularly at St. Clement Parish. She also enjoyed watching mass and other catholic programs on television. After the death of her husband, she moved in with her daughter in Stoneham, were she enjoyed the company of her grandchildren.

The beloved wife of the late Attilio P. Zaccheo, she leaves her loving daughter Emily Viselli and husband Joe. She also leaves her dear grandchildren Nicole B. Viselli and Brendan J. Viselli. She was the sister of the late Josephine Causa and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, from 4 thru 8 PM. Procession will gather at the funeral home Tuesday morning at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Patrick Church, Stoneham. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Founders Affiliate of American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 022417005.
