Obituary

Woodworth (O'Leary) Margaret T. (Peggy) of Medford, formerly of Malden and Somerville - Age 76; After a brief battle with cancer, Peggy passed away peacefully on Feb. 14, 2011, with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle G. Sr. who died in 1973 and her beloved son, Keith J., who died in 1967. She is survived by her devoted and grateful children, Diane (Woodworth) Beagan and her husband Alan of Melrose, Stephen and his partner Antonio Silva of Boston, Lyle G. Jr. and Karen of San Diego, CA, James of Everett, Alan and his wife Maureen of Melrose. Peggy is also survived by her adored and cherished grandchildren, Lauren of Everett, Kathryne Beagan of Melrose, Keith of Stoneham, Emily of San Diego, CA and Brendan and Meghan of Melrose. She is also survived by her sister Dot and her husband Richard Merrick, her brother James and his wife Midge and her brother Robert and his wife Vicki, all of Tewksbury. She was also the sister of the late Catherine, Helen, John and Billy. She is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews and many very dear friends. Peggy especially loved her Tuesday card games with the "girls", with whom she played for over 50 years. Spending time with her dear big sister Dot and their life long friend, Mary Lou LaCount, brought her great joy! Peggy was a 20+ year heart transplant survivor, and thanks to an amazing and dedicated medical team led by Dr. Gilbert Mudge at Brigham and Woman's Hospital, she welcomed 4 more grandchildren into her life who were able to experience the very special love of their grandmother and a lifetime of memories, especially "Christmas Eve at Grammys". Peggy was a past president of The Catholic Daughters of America and a volunteer with the American Heart Association, Alcoholics Anonymous halfway houses and Little Sisters of the Poor. Peggy will be laid to her final rest, by the side of her husband Lyle and her beloved son Keith, at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, MA. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday February 17th from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden on Friday February 18th at 9 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
