Gertrude Hutcherson Thomas, age 86, of 137 Naples Street, Danville, died Monday, February 14, 2011 in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born July 12, 1924 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas M. Hutcherson and Pearl Cabler Hutcherson. She lived most of her life in Danville and was employed as a lab operator for Dan River. She was predeceased by her first husband, Clyde S. Graves, and then by her second husband, Arthur W. Thomas. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Westover Baptist Church.
Survivors include one sister: Lucille Johnson and her husband Parker Johnson of Danville; two grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by a son, Kermit Graves, and by a daughter, Evelyn Patton.
Funeral services officiated by Dr. Doug Barber will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the graveside in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Swicegood Funeral Home from 7 until 8:30 p.m. At other times, they will be at the residence of Parker and Lucille Johnson, 142 Naples Street, Danville.
