New Bedford - William A. Soares, 53, of New Bedford died Friday, February 11, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Manuel and Ruth (Hartnett) Soares.
Mr. Soares had worked as a welder in the area and was a volunteer bell ringer for the Salvation Army receiving the award for raising the most money 2 years in a row.
He is survived by a son: William Soares of Dartmouth; a daughter: Stephanie Charpentier of New Bedford; his beloved partner of 17 years: Ramona J. Charpentier of New Bedford; 3 brothers: Thomas Soares of Rochester, Paul Soares of Acushnet and John Soares of Dartmouth; 3 sisters: Jane Vieira, Kathleen Aubut and Sandra Wing all of Dartmouth; 3 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Susan Houde.
Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
