Robert E. Evans, 71, of Tifton died Monday, February 14, 2011, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Glenn Martin and Dr. Stephen Webb will officiate with a private burial to be held at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be the Pink Ladies Auxiliary and the Red Coats of Tift Regional Medical Center and members of the Prayer Breakfast Group of Tifton’s First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 17, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Evans was born on November 12, 1939 in Lumber City and was the son of Johnny Evans and Lynever Clements Evans, both deceased. He was a Master Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps for 24 years and served with the United States Honor Guard. He was also the manager of I-Magnum and Comptroller for Comcast. He had lived in Tifton for the past eight years.
Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Mary L. Sindt Evans of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, James Allan and Karen Evans of Twin City; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Ann and Carlos Luna of Santa Monica, California; three brothers, Jimmy W. Evans of Hudson, Florida, Clyde B. Evans of Jacksonville, Florida and John B. Evans of Jacksonville, Florida; one sister, Rollie May Wiley of Fernandina Beach, Florida; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
