Obituary

Edda M. (Fiacco) Tuite, 79, of Brockton, died February 12, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife for 57 years of J. Leo Tuite, Jr. Born in Torrice, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Ponfilli) Fiacco. Edda immigrated to America in 1938 at the age of seven. Her family settled in Hornell, NY where she attended St. Ann’s School and graduated from Hornell High School in 1950. A resident of Brockton since 1953, Edda was employed by the Brockton Public Schools as a cafeteria worker for several years after raising her family. She enjoyed cooking Italian food, which was her specialty, watching her children and grandchildren compete in athletics as well as enjoying playing games of all kinds with them. She also enjoyed reading, word puzzles, bowling, knitting, gardening and traveling. She especially enjoyed going to the Red Sox spring training camp. She was a former member of the Brockton Senior Ten Pin Bowling League and a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church for 50 years, where she was active with Pre-Cana classes.

Edda is survived by her children Daniel Tuite and his wife, Suzanne, of Middleboro, Margie Tuite and Gingi Booras of Marblehead, Patty Oliari and her husband, Mark, of Bridgewater, James Tuite and his wife, Rosemary, of Brockton, Stephen Tuite and his wife, Anne, of Shrub Oak, NY and Robert Tuite and his wife, Debbie, of Auburn, NH; ten grandchildren, Janelle and Shawn Tuite, Danielle Oliari and her husband, Scott Hile, Paul and Stephanie Oliari, Emily Tuite, Matthew and Jack Tuite and Robbie and Lauren Tuite; three brothers, Ezio Fiacco and his wife, Mary, and Robert Fiacco and his wife, Carol, all of Hornell, NY and Stephen Fiacco of Brockton, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 8am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Brockton at 9am followed by a burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4-8pm.
