Obituary

Thomas F. Walker was born September 9, 1919 in Haddonfield N.J. and passed away on February 12Th in his home with his family at his bedside. Tom attended Amherst College where he was a member of the Chi Psi fraternity; he graduated in 1941 and joined the Navy where he participated in five invasions in the European and Asian theaters, leaving the Navy in 1946 as Lt. Commander.

Tom married Emily K. Lewis in 1946. They had two sons, William Thomas and Robert Alan. Tome went on to establish and run several successful business ventures and ultimately retired in 1977. Tom and his wife were avid golfers, although Tom would be the first to admit that Emily was a better golfer. Tom’s beloved wife of 49 years “Em” passed away in 1995.

Tom moved to the Brandon Wilde community in December of 1995 which is where he met his friend and long-time companion Mary Humrich. Tom Participated in numerous community activities and at one point was Chairman of the Resident Counsel. Tom Enjoyed his breakfast club members “The Romeos” many of whom were avid golf players.

Tom survived by his children William, and his wife Elizabeth, and Robert, and his wife Robin, his Grandsons Thomas John “TJ” and James William and his Great Grandchildren Cameron, Avery and Brylee.

Dad will be buried at sea. There will be a memorial service at Brandon Wilde on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 4:00 pm.

Dad, we love you and will miss you very much… But I am sure that Mom is glad to have you back.
