Mrs. Ethel Marie Jones Keaton, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 10, 2011. She was born in Yadkin County on August 16, 1924 to the late Robert Lee and Mary Elizabeth Smith Jones. Mrs. Keaton was a homemaker, a lifelong resident of Stokes County, and a dedicated and loyal member of Rock House Primitive Baptist Church for 57 years. Mrs. Keaton is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Elder J. H. Keaton, Jr. of the home, two sons and daughter-in-law, Delmer Keaton, of East Bend, Grant (Dorothy) Keaton, of Westfield, one daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine K. (Frank) Ahting, of Westfield, one daughter-in-law, Frankie Keaton, of Greensboro, NC eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, and one half-sister, Pearl (Reuben) Jones Lunsford, of Winston Salem. Mrs. Keaton was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Gene Keaton, one sister, Avoline Grubbs, and three half-sisters, Florence Rickard, Elsie Austin, and Ruth Brown. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Rock House Primitive Baptist Church at 2:00 with Elder Joey Jenkins, Elder Rodney Marshall, and Elder Scotty Marshall officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to our many friends and loved ones who have supported and lifted us up through our times of need.
